Karl Perry, founder of  Britannia Bespoke Furniture Ltd has been making beautiful handmade furniture for over 30 years, chairs, sofas and other unique pieces to enhance your home and office!

Karl and his family decided to embark on a new adventure when they started their own company, in order to fill a gap in the market, using his own skill, experience and traditional methods to give everyone an opportunity to enjoy a unique piece of furniture.

Karl wanted to create his own brand that gives customers quality, one off pieces of furniture, not mass produced and not at west end prices! He wants to deliver a real quality, heritage unique feel that a handmade piece of furniture brings to any home, that suits the customers pocket and personality.

The customer is able to choose the wood, fabric and style, to ensure they have furniture built to a very high standard and to their own specifications.

All the furniture is made with attention to detail and the requirements of the customer very much in mind. It is made locally in Essex so you are able to go to the workshop and see how the unique piece starts to take shape and be part of that process.

They are able to see how much care and passion goes into the choice of sourcing the wood, hand making the frame, choice of fabric and upholstery - literally seeing their commission come to life. Karl very much hopes this will add value for money, enhance their experience of owning such a one off piece and clearly come back for more, not to mention spreading the word!

All furniture starts with a frame, all created individually by ‘Britannia Bespoke Furniture ltd’ (Karl Perry personally) from a wood of your choice, which comes from renewable resources,  wood from around the world which from his experience is chosen because he knows it is of the highest quality to create the furniture you require.

‘Britannia Bespoke Furniture’ one off pieces are upholstered in a traditional way and filled to your own requirements to ensure maximum comfort and quality finish, which will enhance your home for many years.

The quality and attention to detail continues right to the very end of the process, you are able to choose your fabric (from an extensive selection), colour, exact style look and feel shape etc, as you did the wood and design. The hand-cut fabric will help to create the style that suits your home/office and taste!

Karl came to us highly recommended when we moved to a new build house. He certainly did not let us down. He made two full length (floor to ceiling) units off site, with three shelves and cupboards below to house our antique china. The work was beautifully executed and painted and we were thrilled. We later asked him if he would make a fitted unit for the TV and DVD, which again was made to our specification. He was always punctual, honest, reliable and a pleasure to have in the house.

Karl Perry has made several items for us ranging from dining room chairs, desk top, a garden coffee table, a radiator cover and steps for our beach hut. The work produced by Karl Perry has been of an excellent standard and we have been delighted with the finished items.

Karl listened carefully to our requirements and was able to translate our imagined products into reality. 

On finishing making the item Karl made sure we were happy with the finished product. Throughout the whole process Karl was extremely polite and very personable.

Karl has designed and made me 2 pieces of furniture for my children and I am so impressed with both. The first was a toy box for my daughter - it’s beautifully crafted and the lid is made so that it doesn’t trap any fingers if it suddenly falls.

It’s had 4 years of being sat on, climbed on, played with and is still in a perfect condition. I then asked him to make a cupboard for my sons tiny box bedroom. Karl came round and measured the room and designed the cupboard around the space and size of the room. I couldn’t be happier with it.
